Today is election day. Vote in a way that aligns with your spiritual and religious beliefs. Put spirituality above your politics. Vote as if you were applying the teachings of your faith. #liveyourfaith
While working with one of my daughters, Monica, to gain more insight into our ancestry, I came across this quote on the 23&Me ancestry website that explains my maternal lineage. It is one of the most profound statements that I’ve heard and one that resonates deeply within me.
Once we truly understand the deep meaning of the statement, we’ll stop the fight against one another based on race, religion, national origin, and any other artificial barriers. In my understanding, the furthest we can get away from each other is to be a “cousin”. Let’s put our faith into practice and learn to love each other.
….. After all, s/he ain’t ___________(fill in the blank) s/he’s my cousin!
Here is the quote:
If every person living today could trace his or her maternal line back over thousands of generations, all of our lines would meet at a single woman who lived in eastern Africa between 150,000 and 200,000 years ago. Though she was one of perhaps thousands of women alive at the time, only the diverse branches of her haplogroup have survived to today. The story of your maternal line begins with her.
Is it any wonder that we have become a population that is struggling for survival? Down through history, we have somehow learned that, when we are struggling, we should look outside of ourselves and to others for the help that we need. Now we have become a world of “dependents” always looking to other people and/or organizations when we are in need.
How did we get so lost? How did we stray so far from ancient wisdom that told us to “Know Thyself” and to “Look within”? Why don’t we take heed to religious writings that tell us of our power and our ability to do “greater things than these”?
It’s time… way past time in fact, to refocus and to reclaim the awesome power that is our birthright! To that end, the work of Central City Development, the non-profit that I have quietly led for the last 18 years, will continuously and relentlessly work with people to help them discover/rediscover the awesome power that lies sleeping within them. This mission is embedded on all the activities that we present.
We will not contribute to the creation of people who just rely on other people and organizations and survive by getting handouts of “fish” until the next crisis occurs. Instead, we will channel our efforts toward the creation of “fishermen” and “fisherwomen”
The process starts with the individual and evolves into the creation os self-empowered families; eventually serving as a foundation for self-empowered organizations and communities, both locally and globally.
We seek partners and partnerships interested in teaming to deliver transformative services, document and replicate the process, and conduct research around this worthy endeavor. Unlike many change initiatives, this work must start with the individuals, groups, and organizations that will lead the process.
Training will first be delivered to the helpers (partners in the process) to build an understanding of the power and the effectiveness of our approach. All participants in the change process, from providers to participants, will possess a common language which will enable us to communicate with all individuals involved across the spectrum.
This approach has been developed and refined (and will continue to be refined) based on 19 years of action research by Central City Development Corporation. It has shown consistent success and effectiveness across the socio-economic spectrum. We boldly stand behind our ability to bring about life-changing transformation in the people, families, organizations, and communities that we serve. Stand with us in this long-overdue approach to human transformation and community change.
This is the Easter season. Like Christ, let us all rise and become the powerful and joyous beings that we are meant to be!
As I reflect on the current events that are causing a stir in ourselves, in our homes, in our communities, and in our nation, I am reminded of a quote by Marianne Williamson:
“The way of the miracle-worker is to see all human behavior as one of two things: either love, or a call for love.”
This is true and we are being tried by current events. We are not victims of the world, we are victims of how we see the world. The greatest power on this earth is love and when we use this awesome power properly, everything changes.
Yes, we are being tried but I am “re-minded” by Job 23:10:
“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”
The way is love and we are being tried. The test is to love those people and things that we like and “answer the call for love” by other people with more love.
Will you pass the test?

This lesson is brought to you by the letter “G” (GOD, GREATER)
As I look at all the attention that Donald Trump is getting on Facebook and elsewhere, I wonder if we have lost our faith and our focus?
Have you forgotten 1 John 4:4?
“Ye are of GOD, little children, and have overcome them: because GREATER is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Why do we worry about what Donald Trump or anyone else will do if the Spirit within each of us will guide and protect you?
How about John 14:12?
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and GREATER works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
Each of us is endowed with the power to do great works. Why are we waiting for others to do for us what we want done? The power is within us all. Stop wasting your time and your power!
Last but not least, how about Matthew 6:33?
“But seek ye first the kingdom of GOD, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
It’s time to stop focusing our energy and our power on external things. The Kingdom of GOD is within, and there lies our Power. We are all creators and, as such, what we focus on grows. Focus on and create what you want (the Kingdom of God – i.e. joy, love, appreciation, knowledge, etc.) and all other things will be added unto us. And let’s all get busy doing those GREATER things talked about in John 14:12
There, I said it 🙂

I am completely convinced that anyone who is suffering, is suffering needlessly. As a result of this belief, I have been “working” during the last 17 years or so, to bring a message of Hope to all who will listen. I strongly believe in the scripture which say, “All are called, but the chosen are few,” with a slight twist, as stated in A Course Miracles. The Course says it is more accurate to say, “All are called, but few will listen.” Since the Creator is one of mercy, I choose to believe in the latter. Listen up…
While reading the original edition of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, I found what I consider to be, The Golden Nugget. The passages that I found struck me as the key to gaining all the richness that the Creator offers. This has to do with far more than material riches. It includes happiness, peace of mind, and all the other riches we desire. He is reflecting on the famous poem, Invictus by William Earnest Henley which concludes with the lines,
“I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul”
Hill says that we are the masters of our fate, the captains of our soul because we have the power to control our Thought. Referring to Henley, he goes on to say,
“He should have told us that the ether in which this little earth floats, in which we move and have our being, is a form of energy moving at an inconceivably high rate of vibration, and that the ether is filled with a form of universal power (My question…Could that Power be that which we call the Creator?) which adapts itself to the nature of the thoughts we hold in our minds and INFLUENCES us, in natural ways, to transmute our thoughts into their physical equivalent…(definition of transmute – to completely change the form, appearance, or nature of someone or something)
“He should have told us, with great emphasis, that this power makes no attempt to discriminate between destructive thoughts and constructive thoughts, that it will urge us to translate into physical reality thoughts of poverty, just as quickly as it will influence us to act upon thoughts of riches.
He should have told us, too, that our brains become magnetized with the dominating thoughts which we hold in our minds, and by means which no man is familiar, these “magnets” attract to us the forces, the people. the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts.
Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, The original 1937 unedited edition, pp. 32-33
I say all of this to say that we, like our Creator, are immensely powerful beings with the God-given power to create and mold our circumstances. It is only through our ignorance of this power that we suffer. The fact is, we create our circumstances by thought alone, plain and simple. Once we discipline ourselves to harness this tremendous power of thought, all things are possible.
Stop giving your power away to the circumstances around you and focus, instead, on that which you DESIRE and see what transpires. I know this to be true because, week after week, I watch people in my classes make those changes.
Remember, you reap what you sow, so start sowing the seeds of what you want, not those of what you don’t want! The Power does not discriminate.
Are you listening?…..
In class tonight with 5 very talented individuals, I got a clear understanding of this scripture. Matthew 6:33 says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these shall be added unto you.” The Law of Attraction, one of the primary laws of the Universe, says the same thing. It says that when you maintain a feeling of joy, passion, freedom, knowledge, appreciation, etc., all the good things that you desire are drawn to you.
I offer a challenge to you, just as I offer the challenge to the students in my class. Spend a week in the feelings of joy, passion, freedom, knowledge, appreciation, etc., regardless of the conditions around you, and see the good and desirable things that flow into your life. Some “miraculous” things have happened to students who took the challenge.
To me, this the simplest and most spiritual way for anyone and everyone to rise above their current conditions. Like all gifts from God, it is free and will set you free. Don’t take my word for it, but do heed the words spoken by Jesus in Matthew 6:33. After all, you have nothing to lose except for the struggle you’ve been in for far too long.
